ISIConnect NEWS - February 2002
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Welcome to the February edition of ISIConnect NEWS.
February is a month that always propels us into the New Year. We
usually slink through January, recovering from Christmas and going
on holidays. February arrives and it's over before you know it, and
suddenly the year is passing you by. Well, there is plenty to take
notice of in the blur of February in this month's ISIConnect NEWS.
Have a peek at Best of the Fests to check out what's on in the wide
world this month, including the carnival in Rio, giant parading
lemons in France and all the fashion highlights in London. The
Missing Link has a clutch of snappy websites in case you need some
romantic advice, fresh music or mini books to read online. As usual
there are plenty of chances to grab some free talk time if you write
to us and tell us interesting things about your travels or about our
service.
Happy trails!
3. TRAVEL WHISPERS
 ~~ Best festival you've been to ~~
Jasper National Park, Canadian Rockies
Right now we have a festival going on called Jasper in January
filled with all sorts of fun stuff - snow sculpture contests,
wine tasting, outdoor skating days, liquor tasting, abane a sucre
(maple taffy to all non-francophones), cigar and spirit breakfasts,
ski and snowboard fun races, wine and cheeses, a mountain to
valley race, pub crawl, ice climbing, and world famous chili
cook-off to name but a few events.  Tonight, however, I tried one
of the best - a night time canyon crawl (no pubs involved).  The
maligne canyon, part of the biggest karst system in the world, is
absolutely gorgeous in the summer (which is the only time I've
seen it up until now).  But in the winter it freezes solid and
there are tours running through it day and night.  Tonight we had
it to ourselves and the six of us (guide included), our headlamps
and cleats trotted along and then down into the canyon for three
hours.  We even crawled into a hidden cave!  It was one of the
most moving and exhilarating experiences I've ever had.
4. SPOTLIGHT ON...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

~~ Speed Dialling ~~

To make a call, you normally need to dial the country code, area code and
phone number. However a Speed dial lets you substitute a whole phone
number with a single number. Instead of dialling the entire phone number,
you simply dial its Speed Dial number.

You can assign a number between 2 and 8 to any phone number. 0 is reserved
for Customer Service and 1 is reserved for the last phone number you
dialled. Speed dials can be set up as follows:

0 - Customer Service
1 - Last number dialled
2 - Mum's phone number
3 - Dad's phone number
4 - Partners phone number
5 - Friends phone number
6 - Sisters phone number
7 - Hostel phone number
8 - Banks phone number

This means that next time you want to ring your mum, for example, instead of
dialling the whole phone number, you simply press 2, followed by the # key.

How do you set up your Speed Dials? It's easy!
1.	Log in to the web site.
2.	In the side bar, click Account Settings.
3.	In the top bar, click Speed Dials.
4.	Enter your Speed Dials, then click Update.

You can also print your Speed dials so that you don't forget which phone number
is assigned to each Speed dial number. Please refer to the online Help/FAQ's
if you have any further questions.

~~ Animal Kingdom Seductions ~~

Since February is the month of love and romance, we thought we would bring
you some bizarre seductions from the animal kingdom:

The spotted salamander gives new meaning to the phrase "one night stand."
After a long winter, they cross highways, brooks and other obstacles to reach
their mating pools, where they engage in an evening of frenzied dancing and
mating. By morning, the males are gone and the females stick around just long
enough to lay their eggs before returning to their solitary lives.

Size does matter to the female porcupine. Scientists believe females look for
the biggest male with the densest quills. The female, who is sexually active
for just one month a year, will only lift her spiny tail after her prospective
mate has defended her honor against other males for several days.

After an elaborate mating ritual of colour changing and synchronized swimming,
it is the male seahorse that becomes pregnant and carries the baby seahorses
for six weeks before experiencing birth pains as he produces approximately
200 young.
