3. TRAVEL WHISPERS
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
 ~~ The best Cyber Cafe Around~~
The best cyber cafe for us was in Byron Bay, Australia. It had loads of
computers, quick service and cost only AUS $1 an hour and it was set in a
really fantastic town....while we were there the sun was shining, the beach
was lovely and we had such a wicked time.
- Louise, United Kingdom
My favourite cyber cafe was in Barcelona... Easy Everything. It cost me
the equivalent of 1 quid and my friend and I were served endless coffees and
cookies for the one hour.  I wrote some of my best emails and found the
staff to be extremely fun and outgoing.
- Lisa, Australia
4. BEST OF THE FESTS
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

~~ A what's on guide to the world ~~

8-11 August 2002
Copenhagen International Fashion Fair
5, Center Blvd
Copenhagen, Denmark

What combines more than 2500 collections spread over 32,000 square metres
with enough hair spray to blow a new hole in the ozone layer? It could only
be Copenhagen's International Fashion Fair (CIFF), the heavy weight title
fight of the Scandinavian fashion industry.

CIFF continues to expand annually, showcasing the most striking outfits for
spring and summer 2003. When the dust has settled after four days exhibiting
the trends and fashions that will shape Scandinavian clothing for the coming
year will have been redefined.

If you prefer to browse the collections from your couch, CIFF will be
televised, and analyses and updates will be posted on the website for the
curious who don't have their foot in the door of the fashion industry.
Registrations and bookings can be completed online.

15-19 August 2002
Summer X-Games
First Union Center
1, CoreStates Complex
Philadelphia, USA

After the massive success of the 2001 Summer X-Games, the biggest competition
of extreme sports returns to Philadelphia's First Union Center. Medals,
personal glory and nearly US$1 million in cash is up for grabs for over 300
of the globes alternate athletes.

The competitors laugh in the face of gravity and challenge fate by launching
into thin air from off jumps, then return to earth to slide down rails. The
athletes will attempt to spin, flip and rotate their way to victory in a
variety of extreme sports.

25-26 August 2002
Notting Hill Carnival
Notting Hill
London, England

The Notting Hill Carnival provides a seething, throbbing venue for the
celebration of the melting pot of cultures that makes up modern London,
particularly the influence of Jamaica and the Caribbean.

The Carnival is renowned for it floats, music and fabulous food. Huge sound
stages pump out some great live acts, Sancho Panza and Mikey Dread's One Love
are always excellent. Grab a map and you could get to see big music names for
free.

Heed this warning though party people, Notting Hill Carnival is equally
renowned for how crowded this festival gets, as a million people flood the
streets together. Take care of your self and your belongings, and be patient
when moving through the crowds, jiggle and jangle along to the beat. Take the
time to savor the flavors of Notting Hill, from jerk chicken to Jamaican
patties and curries.

6. ONE FROM LEFT FIELD
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~ Bizarre Patents ~~
Anyone who has made an invention can apply for a patent. Most patents
describe serious inventions, which represent technological progress in the
field concerned. But not always. People patent some pretty weird and wacky
ideas....
Golf game got you down? Now you can have explosive drives every time with
the 12 Gauge Golf Club! This special wood features a barrel, muzzle and a
trap door in the rear for loading your explosive charge. The firing pin is
aligned with the clubs sweet spot for blasting your balls into oblivion
(careful!).
Who doesn't like to eat? Whether it's a big juicy steak or tofu casserole,
everyone likes to chow down. But we can be a gluttonous lot. Sometimes we
just eat too fast! Slow down, take a break and give your food some time to
settle. With the Alarm Fork, you can only eat when your fork gives you the
green light. That's right, once you've shovelled some food into your mouth,
the fork sensors cue the fork to emit a red light. And you know what that
means, STOP! Now wait, tick, tick, tick, tick... ding! Green light, take
a bite.
Can't decide which pair of pants to wear? Well someone else must have had
this dilemma. So they designed a pair of pants that separate at the crotch
so you can wear legs from 2 different pairs of pants.
Ever found it difficult to scoop some ice cream out of its tub? Well why
don't you use a heated ice-cream scoop! Someone has designed one that
contains a cigarette lighter in the handle that heats air between the two
walls of the actual scoop.
