3. TRAVEL WHISPERS
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
 ~~ Best travel accessory ~~
Having just returned from a 2 year 10 country trip around the world, the
best travel accessory, is a copy of "Work your way around the world"
by
Susan Griffiths.  This thing is a backpackers bible.  Whether your job
hunting in Australia, BUNACing in the USA, Kibbutzing in Israel, or just
trying to minimise your tax bill in the European Union, this book has got
the lot.  Divided into two sections, the first tells you all about work in
different sectors, from fruit picking to English teaching abroad to scuba
diving instruction.  The second section then lists work opportunities in
different countries, including all the different visa schemes, and
dealing with tax, and the best places and times in each country to work
(hint - do not search for work in Adelaide, South Australia in the
Australian summer.  This place is DEAD.  DEAD DEAD DEAD.  Really.  Honest).
And for those of you thinking of working your way around the world, my
advice is do it.  We planned 1 month in Ireland in 2000, before travelling
on to Oz for the Olympics.  In reality we spent 3.5 months in Ireland, made
£2,500 profit (no, I don't know what that is in Euros), and then spent
another month spending it in Ireland and missing the Olympics.  But hey,
that's life.
Jobs found using the tips in this book included wine bottling in Wangaratta
in Victoria, Australia, just up from the Melbourne based ISIConnect team.
(Hey guys, you're in the wrong job.  The people in Wang don't pay you in
cash, they pay you in wine.  Get what I'm saying?)
Nuff said.  "Work your way round the world" - buy a copy.  Travel.
Play.
Work.  Save.  Travel.  Play.  Etc.
- Simon Foster, Standlake, Nr Oxford, United Kingdom
(but once of Melbourne, Australia, and still missing Fitzroy...)
The best gadget I have found thus far on my round the world cycle is my
Karrimor Rishlite 15 (bladdered) backPack/mini-rucksak: it is designed not
to give you back problems - especially after a 100 mile bike journey -
and is ideal for carrying all manner of valuables whilst wandering around
some new environment on foot (particularly when you remove the removable
bladder!).  Highly recommended for not just bikers but hikers and just
about anyone touring - much more versatile than one of those silly bum/
waist bag things....
4. BEST OF THE FESTS
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

~~ A what's on guide to the world ~~

14 April 2002
London Marathon
England, London

The London Marathon turns the streets of London into a celebration of
fitness and festivities. The route vibrates with the sounds of bands,
cheering masses, pumping pub entertainment and 30,000 pairs of feet
hitting the tarmac of the 26.2 mile course.

The London Marathon is regarded as the biggest and best of the
international big city marathons. The runners sprint off at Greenwich
Park and Blackheath, continues through Surrey Quays, Brunel Rd, Tooley
St, Canary Wharf, the Tower of London, Embankment, Parliament Square and
Birdcage Walk, then come to a roaring finish on The Mall by Buckingham
Palace.

The race has a fantastic mix of top international athletes and thousands
of average joggers pounding the pavement. The 30,000 runners can also feel
good after the race as they raise money for charity while running. Local
community groups and schools all pitch in to put on entertainment and
colour to raise over £15 million for good causes.

16-21 April 2002
Seville April Fair
Andalusia, Seville
Spain

La Feria de Abril (Seville April Fair) is one of the highlights on the
Spanish festival calendar. Flamenco parties float like butterflies through
the days and nights as passion runs wild. The weeklong fair features all
that is intriguing and mystifying in this Andalusian city, renowned for
its folklore and history.

Take the Puente de la Barqueta (bridge) over to the south side of the Rio
Guadalquivir and you will discover a canvas city known as Real de la Feria.
There, over 1000 festive marquees covered with paper lanterns become a
temporary home to thousands of revellers, packed day and night with
flamenco dancers. Flamenco events often run until 9am the next morning,
and some sevillanos choose to turn up clad head-to-toe in flamenco
costume and dance through the night.

The Paseo de Caballos (Procession of Horsemen and Carriages) features
horses and decorated carriages parading in magnificent colours throughout
the city at midday, with their occupants in fantastic flamenco dress.

At 6.30pm some of the best bullfights of the year take place at the Plaza
de Toros de Maestranza de Caballerķa, known as El Catedral (Cathedral).

5. SPOTLIGHT ON...EMAIL
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Each month we highlight a useful part of the ISIConnect service. This
month it's Email.
When you add money to your account for the first time, your Inbox storage
will automatically be upgraded from 10MB to a HUGE 50MB. Not bad
considering Hotmail only offers 2MB of storage and Yahoo 4MB. We don't
charge you any annual fees to keep your 50MB storage. You can then use the
money you placed on your account to make calls, listen to voicemails, send
faxes and much more. If you don't want to add money to your account, then
your Inbox storage will remain at 10MB.
6. ONE FROM LEFT FIELD
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

~~ Next time you contemplate a diet ~~

A. The Japanese eat very little fat and suffer fewer heart attacks than
the British or Americans.
B. On the other hand, the French eat a lot of fat and also suffer fewer
heart attacks than the British or Americans.
C. The Japanese drink very little red wine and suffer fewer heart attacks
than the British or Americans.
D. The Italians drink excessive amounts of red wine and also suffer fewer
heart attacks than the British or Americans.

Conclusion: Eat and drink what you like. It's speaking English that kills
you.

7. THE VENT

~~ Everybody's got an opinion. What's yours? ~~

Hi ISIConnect,

I couldn't believe how easy and convenient using the calling feature of my
ISIConnect was. I was abroad visiting graduate schools and was able to
make calls home to the States simply and affordably. I'm sold. From now
on I won't go abroad without ISIConnect. Thank you ISIConnect!
